Making time

A lot of us have crazy schedules and there just doesn’t seem to be enough time to sit and take that time for yourself. What is very important is making sure that you do take that time for yourself and your loved ones because you never know when they aren’t going to be around to spend time with. When I am saying make time, I am not saying days and days, I am just saying is setting a little bit of time when you can sit down and relax and not worry about everything else that is going on around you.

For us, we try and take a bit of time each day when we can sit and chat about anything and everything. Of course, work is one of the topics that does come up, but we also make sure that we are chatting about other things that we have either seen or heard about. Making sure that the personal time has been achieved is very important.

Making time for your loved ones can also be a bit of a challenge because they also have busy schedules, so finding time that works for everything can be hard. For our families we try and make sure that we have either emailed, texted, or called, and then we set aside that bit of time when we can spend it together in person. With family not living close, it means that there needs to be more planning, but at least we make sure that we still find ways of communicating with them even when we can’t be together in person.

Making time even for yourself where you can do something that you enjoy is important. It doesn’t have to be a lot of time, but just that bit of time when you can forget about all the other demands on your life. For me, I have decided that I will try and spend 30 minutes each day doing something that I enjoy, and it has helped quite a bit. It gives me the time to focus on something enjoyable, but also that time when I can let the mind wander and see what happens. Making the time to do something relaxing is important, and spending time with those around you is also important. So next time when you are going to say, “I’m too busy”, remember that person that you were going to spend time with might not be there when you have the time.

Taking some "me time"

There are times when you just need to step back and take some time for yourself. It doesn’t have to be a lot of time, but it does help you recharge your personal batteries. It can be a simple couple of hours of doing something that you enjoy, or it can be a couple of days when you take a mini vacation and do things that you enjoy doing.

The taking the time to recharge your personal batteries and different things can make such a difference on how you view things. Yes, it might mean that things don’t get done, and you have a list when you get back, but it can also help me move that list forward a little quicker because you have more energy to do just that. The time you take and what you do depends on you and what you need the break from. There are people that will go on hikes for two or three hours and that is their time to ignore their devices and just spend time clearing their head. Other people will go to a spa and take those few hours of relaxation to recharge. For me, it is going and getting in some good walks and doing things that I enjoy doing and seeing some scenery.

In the summer I find that I can go and sit on our balcony and watch the neighbourhood, and it is a great way to take that me time away from what needs to be done at my desk or even around home. The break for me is a time when I can start to think about all the different things that I would like to achieve, and then I normally can move them forward a little quicker after this break. In the summer, I normally have a simple craft project sitting by the balcony door that I can grab and do while I just take that bit of time to recharge.

Me time is something we all need, and it can be time with others or time alone, it doesn’t matter how you get it, but you need to ensure you get some of that time. The personal battery charge is important, and I know that after I have had that time, it is easier to be there for others as well. I have a little sign that when I need some “me time” even at my desk I can put it up to show that please don’t disturb me,
I am doing something for me.

Taking some me time is important for all of us, and even those little bits of time each day can make things so much easier to deal with.

How do you recharge your personal battery?

I have recently been listening to a bunch of people talk about how they find joy and what makes them happy. I am going to try and compare the differences as I see them.

Being among people

For some people, being among others makes them happy, and it is their way to find the energy. I have seen people at conference who get extremely energized because they are around people that they can talk to.

A lot of these people are the ones that you are going to find out in the various clubs, as that is where they are happy. These are the people that in some cases have had a very hard time over the last couple of years dealing with the isolation and the restrictions that were put upon them.

Being alone

For some people, being alone makes them happy and that is their way of re-charging themselves. Being among people to them is exhausting, and they can’t wait to get back to their quiet place.

The people that enjoy being alone are the ones that you will hear that they can curl up with a good book and lose hours at a time just reading. I know that there are people that will spend weeks at home without going out even to a grocery store because they would rather not deal with people at all.

A combination of both

I think a lot of people are a combination of both types. There are times when being among people can help you recharge some personal batteries, and then there are times when being alone helps recharge the batteries as well.

I know that for me there are times when I do find a bit of energy being around people, especially when we are talking about things that we have in common. This seems to help me recharge that part of my personal batteries. I am also one of those individuals that also enjoys the alone time when I can sit and listen to some music and do something that I enjoy doing without being around others.

Summary

You will find a lot of people are a combination of both types or when they are out among people they will have the energy, but they are very happy when they can get home and hide for a while. In a lot of cases, you won’t know what someone is like most of the time because most people will try their best to fit into the environment where they are currently.

Yes, I know a few people that when they are out among people aren’t happy, and I know people that when they are lone aren’t happy. We are all different, and how we recharge our own personal batteries will vary. Understand what makes each person different, and know that what works for you might not work for the next person.

Finding time for yourself

There are so many people that say oh I just spend the weekend doing my craft and there was nothing else to do. I look at those people and wonder what they really do if they can always find the weekend to do their crafts without having to else.

Maybe, the problem is I have lots of thing that I normally have to bump something else if I want to spend even a day doing my crafts. Sure, maybe I am one of those that just has too many things on the go at any time but then it is how I think a lot of people are now a days. Between work, home, family and friends there doesn’t seem to be enough time in the week to do everything. Oh, on that list I forgot self because that is someone else that needs the time.

Finding time for yourself can be a challenge and it may take a bit of extra effort to make sure that you are finding that time no matter what. I know that I have got into the habit of trying to find at least an hour in the evenings or most evenings to do something for myself. When life gets really busy I know that my “me time” gets bumped first because I figure I need to handle everything else first and then I will fit the time in for myself.

Through a lot of this I have found that the me time that I have is where I can git and actually do my own type of meditation. The “me time” is where I can spend that bit of time thinking through the various projects and plans that I have on the go and actually figure out how some of them are going to be moved forward. The “me time” is also where I am going to think through the to-do-list and figure out how I am going to be tackling some of the things.

I may look like someone that does a lot of crafting, but in the most part, if I can find an hour or two some nights to craft that is wonderful. I also have the advantage that when I craft I pick things that I can see some results quickly. Making sure that I can find the time to do some of these projects makes me a lot happier because then when I do take that time for me I am also productive on the simple things that I enjoy doing.

Finding time for me is actually finding time to do my own type of meditation and get the thoughts back organized in my mind. Sure, I am getting something else done but through this time I find that I am more productive the next day because I have figured out a lot of those little steps that needed to be figured out.

Find time for yourself and even if it just those few minutes at the end of the day it’s great. If you are lucky and can find days at a time to do the things you enjoy, consider yourself lucky because a lot of us are finding those small bits of time to just sit and put ourselves first.

Sitting and thinking

There are days when all you can do is sit and think things through. Of course, these days can be just as productive as a day of sitting and working at the computer. A day to sit and think gives me a chance to regain the focus on all the things that you are working on and need to do.

I find that if things are going a little crazy, I need to take some time to just sit back and think things through instead of just plowing ahead. Just taking some time to go over in your own head can make a big difference on how you look at things.

My to-do-list is always close at hand when I am doing this thinking because it helps me see what needs to be done and how I am going to get everything done. There are times when just looking at my list can help me regain the focus that I need.

The sitting and thinking don't have to be long; it can be a few minutes while drinking a coffee, or it can be hours to make sure you are in the right state of mind for what needs to be done. The sitting and thinking can also help you recharge your own personal battery.

Make sure you take some time to just sit and think, as you will see that you can be more productive after this. Time now to get back to work.

Taking Time For Yourself

It is very important to remember that most people need to take time for themselves. Sometimes this time can be easily achieved, while other times it may need to be schedule. When I say scheduled, I mean booked so that something else cannot take that time away from you.

I have booked sometime in my calendar occasionally to ensure I have time for me. It can be a challenge sometimes to take some time to recharge the personal battery. In some cases, the taking time can be a half an hour here and there, while other times it can be a few hours or even a few days.

For me, taking time for myself has meant taking a bit of sleep time away so that I could have some quite time to myself. I can find that I want to write late at night, and I need to do it then sometimes. If I don't get the thoughts written down, I don't sleep, so I might as well get up and get the thoughts onto paper.

Taking time for yourself, is very important to ensure you are there to help others and even do your own job. Remember, when time starts to go crazy, book a little “me time” for yourself.

A Day to Dream

We all need time to just sit and dream. The dream may be about an upcoming event or time, or it may be just little thoughts that pop into your head.

Sitting quietly and watching the world go by can sometimes be that dreaming day.  Simply watching the comings and goings of others can be a spark of some dreams.  Thinking of where people are heading can be so much fun.  Where are they taking that bagful of stuff or why are they in such a rush.  Watching others and thinking differently than normal can inspire you.

The mind does need that time to slow down because we are so often rushing around ourselves.  We all have too many things to do in what seems like not enough time.  Making sure we have some dream time is important.

A day to dream can help in many ways.  It can help in refocusing your own tasks, lets your mind solve problems without all the stress of normal, or it can even give you new ideas.  It doesn't really matter what the outcome of your day to dream is, as long as it meant you could escape the daily routine.

On my dream days, I always have some paper and a pen handy.  You never know what ideas or thoughts can come to mind.

Quiet Time

Having some quiet time is important to most people.  Quite time can be curled up doing nothing or just spending some time doing something you enjoy.

Knowing what helps you recharge is very important.  Quiet time can even be time away in an environment that is quieter than your normal environment.  It really doesn't matter where this spot is, as long as it helps your personal battery recharge.

Quiet also varies based on an individual, some people only know no sound as quiet, while others need a bit of noise around them.  Knowing what you want is the important factor, not what others figure quiet is to you.

Some of my writing is done in a quiet environment, and other times noise helps me focus on what needs to get accomplished.  For me, quiet time normally involves a bit of noise around me, even if it's some mellow music playing softly in the background.

Knowing what your quiet time is and how you achieve it is what matters.

Taking Time

Some days, there seems to be just too many things to do.  We all have those days when juggling too many things can be disastrous.  I know, I have those days and find that, sometimes, I just need to take some time and regroup.

It's hard to think of taking a bit of downtime in the middle of a crazy day, but it does help.  Being able to escape from the chaos can really assist in getting a clearer head and refocusing.  I am not saying take hours, but sometimes even 5 or 10 minutes away from everything demanding your attention helps.  A walk around the office or a refresh of your glass of water can help.  If you can't get away, then just closing your eyes and taking a few deep breaths can help clear your head and make the tasks a bit easier.

I know that life demands us to juggle several things at once, but managing how many items being juggled is what is important.  I, for one, have had a habit of trying to juggle too many things at once, resulting in a feeling of everything crashing down on me sometimes.  In some cases, writing down what needs to get done really helps.  Remembering to take the time to refocus also helps.

Setting time for yourself is extremely important to help deal with all the demands now-a-days.  To tackle the days when there are too many things to get done, remember "Take a deep breath and tackle one thing at a time."  Taking time to regroup and refocus is what we all need to do.

Finding the time

It is very important to find time to do things that you are passionate about. I know that we all have busy lives, but it's so important to remember that if you are passionate about something, you need to make the time for it.

I know that I love crafting, and I make sure that most days I at least spend 30 minutes doing a bit of crafting, be it knitting, crocheting or cross-stitch. Everyone has something they can do, even if it's curling up and reading for that time. Spending that quality time can make everything else seem so much easier because in so many ways it's a stress release.

Another thing that I am passionate about is writing, and it is something that I haven't spent enough time on lately, and I know that I need to change that. For so long I was writing a bit every day and then like most people I got busy doing other things and I let it slide. Now it's time to put my writing back on the calendar on a daily basis and know that it will really help me.

Always remember that if you are passionate about something, it's important to set some time aside at least weekly to make sure that you do it. Some of my thinking has changed over the last little while, and that was after a discussion with someone. This man made me realize that I am passionate about my writing, and I need to do more of it, and I think him for that.

A few words a day is what I need to do, and that is what I will do.
